Hana Melese Bekele is an accomplished Ethiopian academic and researcher specializing in Zoological Sciences, with a focus on Aquatic Sciences, Fisheries, and Aquaculture. She currently serves as an Assistant Professor at Mizan Tepi University. Hana holds a Ph.D. in Aquatic Sciences, Fisheries, and Aquaculture from Addis Ababa University, where she also earned both her Master’s and Bachelor’s degrees. Her research interests include the study of Ethiopian soda lakes, the impact of climate changes and anthropogenic activities on aquatic ecosystems. She has published several peer-reviewed articles in reputable journals and has presented her work at various conferences. Her work aims to contribute to sustainable fisheries and aquaculture development by exploring innovative strategies for ecosystem conservation and resource management.
Workaferahu Ameneshewa earned BA in social Anthropology and MSc in Geography and Environmental studies with specialization in GIS, Remote sensing and Digital cartography from Addis Ababa University, and Ph.D. in Environment and Natural resource management from Arba Minch University. He published five article in esteemed Scopus and Web of science indexed journal (Plose ONE, Springer and Tylor & Francis), four as first (corresponding) Author and one as co-author. He has 9 years’ work experience at Department of Surveying Engineering, college of Engineering and technology, Mizan Tepi University
Dr. Getachew Welyab is an Assistant Professor and a researcher in the field of Materials Science and Engineering. He is currently a lecturer at Mizan-Tepi University, Ethiopia, where he is a faculty member in the Department of Physics, College of Natural and Computational Sciences. Dr. Welyab holds a Ph.D. in Materials Science and Engineering, and his academic and professional work focuses on the synthesis and characterization of advanced nanomaterials. Dr. Welyab has published works on CsPbBr3 perovskite nanocrystals and their unique synthesis using olive oil and oleylamine, as well as on conjugated polymer-perovskite quantum dot nanocomposites. His research appears in Micromachines and Next Nanotechnology. He has presented his work at international conferences, including the III. International Architectural Sciences and Applications Symposium in Italy and the 8th International Education and Innovative Congress in Turkey.
Fiseha Befikadu Deneke (PhD) in Water Resources Engineering and Management. Currently works at College of Engineering and Technology, Department of Hydraulic and Water Resources Engineering, Mizan Tepi University, Ethiopia. He teaches and conducts Research in the area of Water Resources Engineering and Management. He is the reviewer for Journals: Environment, Development, and Sustainability, International Journal of Environmental Research, and Water Resources Management in the Springer Nature. Area of interest: Surface Water Hydrological Modeling, Integrated Watershed Management, Soil Water Management, Artificial Intelligence in Water Resources Management, Advance Water and Waste Water Treatment, Envirometrics, Solid Waste Management and Landfill Engineering, Air Pollution and Control Engineering, Water Resource Planning optimization, Sustainability in Water Resource Engineering and Management. Zemedkun Solomon Korgitet(Assistant Professor) is an accomplished academic and researcher specializing in Information Technology with over ten years of experience in higher education. He holds a BSc in Management Information Systems and an MSc in Information Technology from Adama Science and Technology University. At Mizan-Tepi University, he has served as Dean of the School of Computing and Informatics and Director of the ICT Development Directorate, contributing to institutional growth and technological advancement. He has published over four research papers in reputable journals and actively teaches in the MSc in Information Technology program. A certified Data Center Management and IT Project Management Professional, he has led and participated in more than ten major ICT projects, including data center development, office automation, and e-learning platforms. His research focuses on Artificial Intelligence, specifically Machine Learning and Deep Learning, exploring innovative approaches to enhance intelligent systems and data-driven decision-making.
Gebregziabihier Nigusie is a lecturer at Mizan-Tepi University, specializing in Natural Language Processing (NLP), Machine Learning, and Image Processing. His research primarily focuses on NLP for low-resourced languages, aiming to develop methods that improve machine understanding and interaction with these languages. He also explores machine learning techniques to enhance algorithms in both NLP and image processing, particularly for resource-constrained environments. In the area of image processing, Gebregziabihier seeks innovative solutions to analyze and manipulate images for various applications. His work contributes significantly to the development of computational tools for under-resourced languages and image analysis. Gebregziabihier’s academic and research efforts support the advancement of technology in Ethiopia and beyond. Through his contributions, he continues to impact both the academic community and real-world applications.
Dr. Terefe Getachew Beyene is an accomplished mathematician and educator with extensive experience in teaching, research, and academic leadership. He holds a Ph.D. in Mathematics from Andhra University, India, and specializes in Lattice Theory, particularly Almost Semilattices. His research contributions include numerous publications in international mathematical journals, exploring areas such as ideals, annihilator ideals, and multipliers in Almost Semilattices. With a strong background in academia, he has taught advanced mathematics courses at Addis Ababa Science and Technology University since 2013. His administrative roles have included serving as Dean of the College of Natural and Social Science and participating in various university committees. Currently, he holds the position of Vice President for Academic Affairs at Mizan-Tepi University, where he is responsible for overseeing academic programs, faculty development, and institutional research initiatives.
Beyond academia, Dr. Terefe has actively contributed to mathematical research communities as a reviewer for international journals and a member of professional associations, including the president of Ethiopian Mathematics Professional Association. He has also organized and participated in national and international conferences, workshops, and training programs. He earned an MBA and continues to participate in high-level management training, further strengthening his leadership skills and commitment to advancing education and research in Ethiopia and beyond.
